BONE DENSITY

Bone Density Tests in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Beyond

Precise Imaging offers prompt, convenient bone density scans using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), the industry standard for these vital tests.

DXA scanning is the best diagnostic tool available for detecting osteoporosis and osteopenia. The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force recommends regular osteoporosis screening for all women over age 65, as well as younger women at higher risk for developing low bone density.

Given the frequency of physician-ordered bone density scans, Precise Imaging has taken steps to provide these important diagnostic procedures across a growing network of 70+ facilities. Each of our locations offers evening and weekend hours to serve as many patients as possible.

Bone Density Tests Using Multiple Advanced Technologies

Precise Imaging facilities are equipped with the most advanced diagnostic technologies, allowing our staff to leverage various modalities to meet physician orders.

We offer the two most common types of bone density scans:

  • Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry, or DXA: Precise Imaging technologists conduct quick, low-radiation X-rays of specific bones, or the entire body. This test is the gold standard for detecting low bone density, and is generally the physician’s first step in diagnosing osteopenia or osteoporosis.

Quantitative Computed Tomography, or QCT: This test uses the cross-sectionality of CT scanning to give physicians detailed images of bones, typically the spine. Physicians often order QCT bone density tests to monitor the progress of osteoporosis treatments.

Every radiologist employed at Precise Imaging maintains Board Certification with the American College of Radiology. To remain certified, radiologists must complete frequent supplemental education on developing procedures and technologies.

This up-to-date training allows our radiologists to provide the best possible diagnostic care for patients who receive bone density scans. Reports from Precise Imaging radiologists are always personalized, detailed, and responsive to physician concerns. All of our radiologists work on-site to prepare reports as quickly and accurately as possible, often returning results within 24 hours.
